Honeycomb Buying Guide Menu

Honeycomb shades, our version of the Hunter Douglas Duette Shade, are a popular and modern option for your windows. Here’s what you need to know:

Light Control Options

The amount of natural light you want in your home will determine which light control option you choose. And keep in mind that you may have different needs for every room in your home. Here are the three main options when considering honeycomb shades for your home.

Light Filtering Fabrics

Light filtering honeycomb shades will gently diffuse the natural light coming in, giving your space a soft glow. This fabric will block out the intensity of the sun, but let you enjoy the best parts of the natural light, always giving you the perfect amount of filtered light.

Blackout Fabrics

If you want to get rid of as much of natural light as possible, choose blackout honeycomb shades. The majority  of blackout shades will have a slight halo effect, as light comes in through the edges. If the halo will bother you, the Designer Sleep Shades actually have a track system that eliminates all light, even from the edges. Blackout fabrics are ideal for bedrooms, baby nurseries, media rooms, and home theaters.

The Best of Both Worlds

Sometimes choosing between light filtering and blackout can be difficult. After all, you may have different light needs throughout the day. Instead of choosing one, you can have both. The Light Filtering/Blackout Cordless Shades offer both blackout and light filtering, all in one shade. It’s two shades in one!

Caring for and Cleaning Your Honeycomb Shades

Honeycomb shades are some of the easiest window coverings to clean. All it takes is regular dusting with a feather duster or using the brush attachment on your vacuum cleaner. If there are stains, use a damp sponge and mild detergent. Remember not to rub the stain. Instead, use the sponge to dab the spots. If you want to try a harsher detergent, test a small corner of the shade first, just to see how it will react.
