Measuring Instructions for Bamboo Woven Wood Shades

Bamboo and woven wood shades are a favorite among interior designers, and for good reason. They add great texture to any space and the natural materials make quite the design statement.

Measuring Tips:

  1. Only use a steel measuring tape.
  2. Always round each measurement to the nearest 1/8”.
  3. Measure the width from left to right. Then measure the height from top to bottom.
  4. Never measure the blind or shade that’s currently in your window. Instead, measure the window itself.

Instructions for Inside Mounted Bamboo Shades

Depth Requirements

  • The first step is to make sure your window is deep enough for an inside mount. Find out more about the product’s minimum mounting surface requirements by clicking on the “Product Info” tab on the product’s informational page.

Measure the widthMeasuring the width

  • With the tape measure, find the exact width (left to right) of the inside edge of the window frame in three places (top, middle, and bottom).
  • Write down the smallest width out of the measurements down to the nearest 1/8”.
  • Order this width.

Measure the heightMeasuring the height

  • With the steel tape measure, find the height (top to bottom) of the window frame in three places (top left, center, and top right down to the window sill), and write down the biggest measurement, but make sure to round up to the nearest 1/8”.
  • Order this height.

Our factory will make all necessary deductions. Do not make your own deductions. Do not add to the width to make up for any deductions. If you would like more light coverage, choose an outside mount. See chart below for the deductions per collection:

Instructions for Outside Mounted Bamboo Shades

Because an outside mount covers the entire window opening and frame, there are additions you will need to make to order the right size. We will custom make your product to the dimensions you give us when ordering, and we will not make any additions for you.

Flat surface requirements

  • First, find the spot you’d like to mount your bamboo shades. You’ll need at least 2 ½” of a flat surface for an outside mount. You can find out more on the product’s information page and by clicking on the “Product Info” tab.

Measure the widthMeasuring the width

  • Measure the window’s width in three spots (top, middle, and bottom).
  • Find the largest measurement and add at least 2” to each side, giving you more light coverage and added privacy.
  • That number is the width.

Measure the heightMeasuring the height

  • Measure the window’s exact height in three spots (top left, center, and top right down to the bottom sill).
  • With the largest number, add 2 inches to the top and bottom, for a total of 4 inches. Add more if you want even more coverage.
  • That number is the height.
