Standard blackout curtains can still let light sneak in around the edges. This complete blackout curtain system goes further, helping reduce light from the top, sides and center of your window. A fully enclosed blackout window valance hides the slim aluminum track and helps block light from above. Discreet hook-and-loop attachments hold the curtain edges close to the wall, while hidden magnets help keep the center hems together.
Premium blackout lining helps stop light from passing through the fabric itself. Put it all together and you get light-blocking curtains designed for more complete window coverage. We will make all the necessary deductions based on the measurements you provide. Do not make your own deductions. Don’t add to the width to make up for any deductions that we will take. For more light coverage, choose an outside mount. See the for the deductions per collection.
Recommendations
- Fabric color can vary from one dye lot to another. To ensure that all materials are from the same dye lot, please order shades for the same room at the same time.
- For order size, it is recommended for curtain width, add 4-8" on each side beyond the window width (subject to site condition / desired overlap), and mount the curtain track at least 6" above the top edge of the window.
Good to Know
- Each Total Blackout Curtain purchase includes two panels. Enter the full width of the entire window.
- For height, Measure from 6" above the top edge of the window to the floor to ensure the curtain reaches the floor and prevents light from entering underneath.
- Pleated drapery comes standard with 200% fullness, creating a rich, voluminous appearance while enhancing the overall look and acoustic comfort of the space.Each Total Blackout Curtain includes a slim white aluminum track, custom blackout pelmet, and all required mounting hardware for a coordinated installation designed specifically for the system.
- Anchors are required when mounting into drywall rather than directly into a wall stud or ceiling joist.
- Each panel is lined with an Ivory blackout liner for enhanced light control and a clean, finished appearance.
- The blackout pelmet measures 6 5/16" high x 6 5/16" deep.
- The stick-on adhesive hook-and-loop strips that secures the outer edges of the curtains to the wall will be the same length as the height requested.
- The distance from the side edge to the first pleat is 5", allowing the shade to be secured to the wall with adhesive hook-and-loop stripsfor enhanced light blockage.
- The backside of the curtain header features an open-back design specifically engineered for pinch pleat curtains. This construction creates a softer, more natural appearance on the face side of the drapery by reducing bulk within the header, resulting in enhanced fabric drape and a refined aesthetic.

Measuring the Width
- Determine the total width you would like the curtains to cover.
- Measure the entire width of the window.
- Add 4" – 8" on each side to increase light blockage and allow the open curtains to cover less of the glass.
- Enter the full coverage width, including any added allowance.
- We will automatically add 200% fullness to all drapery treatments. Fullness is extra fabric across the width of the drapery to provide a richer look and increase light and sound absorption.
Measuring the Height
- Determine where the top of the curtain track will be installed.
- Mount the track at least 6" above the top edge of the window to help prevent light from entering above the window.
- Measure from the planned track location down to the floor to ensure the curtains reach the floor and prevent light from entering underneath.
Drapery Panel Length Tips:
- Curtain length can be specified to the nearest 1/4.
- For uneven floors, measure on the left, center and right, then submit the shortest measurement.
Measuring Tips
- Use a steel measuring tape
- If you get a 1/16" or 1/32" increment for width, round down to the nearest 1/8"
- If you get a 1/16" or 1/32" increment for height, round up to the nearest 1/8"
