Fit & Factory Deductions
We will make all the necessary deductions based on the measurements you provide. Do not make your own deductions. Don’t add to the width to make up for any deductions that we will take. For more light coverage, choose an outside mount. See the deductions chart for the deductions per collection.
Recommendations
- Measure carefully, including diagonally from corner to corner. If your window is out of square by more than 1/2", consider an outside mount for a better fit.
- Inside mount shutters may limit access to tilt-in windows. Outside mount is recommended for easier operation and to reduce light gaps.
- Inside mount frames include small factory deductions for proper fit, while outside mount shutters are made to your exact measurements.
- Larger shutters may require dividing rails for added stability, and panel sizes are limited—wider windows require multiple panels.
- Shutters may require some assembly, and pre-drilled holes help ensure a smooth, accurate installation.
No Drill
- No drilling required. Shutters click into place and are held in place by friction.
Good to Know
- Shutters will be made 3/8" shorter than your ordered height and 1/4" narrower than your ordered width for an easy fit. These deductions are made in production and are required for operation and proper fitment. Do not make your own deductions.
- Deductions may vary +/- 1/8".
- Single panels are available up to 26" wide. Wider shutters are split into two panels that open from the center.
- Tilt rod is located on the rear of the panel for a clean and modern look.
- Not compatible with PVC window frames.
- Shutter frames require some assembly.
- A dividing rail will be included on shutters 53" and taller for added strength, and will always be centered.
- Choosing With Sill gives you a flat-bottom frame designed to rest neatly on your window sill.
- Classic 3-1/2" louvers for ideal light and privacy control.
- Standard Z frame overlaps part of the wall 5/8" for a built-in look. Not compatible with existing window trim.
- The frame is made from lightweight, strong aluminum.
- Panels are made from PVC that resists moisture, warping, and wipes clean with ease.
- Measuring for shutters is very important and can be overwhelming. We recommend giving one of our shutter experts a call at 888-257-1840 to help guide you though the process and ensure a smooth ordering experience.
- Inside mount only. This product is designed specifically for inside window frames and is not available for outside mount.
- Minimum depth required: 3 1/2" inside the window frame, to the nearest obstruction.
- Uniform look tip: If you're ordering multiple shutters in the same room, consider matching their heights to the shortest window for a consistent appearance.
- Window variation note: If your window height or width varies by 1/2" or more from side to side or top to bottom, we recommend choosing a product that supports outside mount for a better fit.
Inside Mount Instructions
To ensure an inside mount will work for your window, start by checking that you have enough mounting depth. You can find the exact requirements under the “Specifications” tab on the product page of the item you are considering.
Measuring the Width
- Measure the exact width (left to right) of the inside edge of the window frame in three places (top, middle, and bottom)
- Record the smallest width of the three measurements
- For 1/16” or 1/32” increments, round down to the nearest 1/8”. (For example, if the smallest measurement is 24 9/16," round down to 24 1/2". If it's 24 3/8", no need to round down.)
- This is the width you will order
Measuring the Height
- Measure the exact height (top to bottom) of the window opening in three places (left, center, right)
- Record the smallest height of the three measurements
- For increments of 1/16” or 1/32”, round down to the nearest 1/8”. (For example, if the smallest measurement is 24 9/16," round down to 24 1/2". If it's 24 3/8", no need to round down.)
- This will be the height you will order

- To avoid light gaps around the frame, consider ordering an outside mount frame.
- When ordering outside mount shutters, please ensure you read our Measure & Install tab to ensure you are entering the correct measurements for your shutters.
- Shutters over 62" in height need to have a dividing rail.
- Specify the dividing rail location by providing the distance from the bottom of the shutter to the mid point of where the dividing rail will go.
- Dividing rail position will vary slightly depending on louver size. 3" louvers will vary up to 1 1/4" from the specified position, and 4" louvers will vary by up to 1 3/4".
- To avoid excess louver overlap, a minimum of 16" is required between divider rail and the top/bottom rail of the shutter.
- When ordering adjacent shutters in the same room, to achieve a uniform appearance you must specify that all adjacent shutters and their divider rails be the same height.
