Fit & Factory Deductions
We will make all the necessary deductions based on the measurements you provide. Do not make your own deductions. Don’t add to the width to make up for any deductions that we will take. For more light coverage, choose an outside mount. See the deductions chart for the deductions per collection.
Recommendations
- Deductions may vary +/- 1/8". Do not account for factory deductions when measuring for your shade. Deduction information detailed in the table below.
- Since this is a natural product, colors may vary slightly from dye lot to dye lot. (Seasons can change the color of the reeds, grasses, etc.) If ordering for an entire room, we recommend ordering all of your shades at the same time to ensure they all come from the same dye lot.
- Woven wood materials are not inherently private and may allow visibility through them depending on lighting conditions.
- If a liner option is available, adding a liner can improve privacy and help protect the natural material from fraying over time. Liner color may be visible from the street.
- Edge binding is highly recommended with a continuous cord loop and is offered exclusively in the Earthbound collection. Due to the nature of the materials, some fabric curvature may occur.
No Drill
- IMPORTANT MEASURING TIP: If any No-Drill Blinds option is chosen, take all three standard width measurements (top, middle, bottom) to check for variance, but be sure to input the exact measurement of the top of your window frame into the width field. Compare the three measurements, and if the variance between them exceeds 1/4", No-Drill Blinds may not fit properly.
- Built In No-Drill Blinds is only available for Inside Mount, and require 2 1/2" of depth to install. They are not recommended for use with PVC or metal window frames.
- Factory will deduct approximately 1/4" off the width of the No-Drill headrail.
- The locking mechanism will be located on the right side for Cordless.
- The Built In No-Drill Blinds headrail is fabric wrapped to match the material of the shade, and is not visible after installation.
- All shades ordered with the Built In No-Drill Blinds headrail will have a small amount of excess fabric on the side of the shade to cover the locking mechanism and minimize light gaps.
Good to Know
- The safety device is required by law and must be applied on chain loops and prevents free-hanging loops in operating chains. Install the safety device at the maximum distance possible from the control mechanism to prevent slack in the loop.
- Woven Wood shades ordered without the 6" valance upgrade include a discreet mini-valance (~3.5" / 9 cm) attached to the back of the shade, designed to conceal the operating mechanism.
- Always lift and lower cordless products with both hands to avoid unleveling and the need for re-leveling.
- Liners & cord shroud at the back of the shade are generally a light cream color, which may contrast with darker fabric selections; please consider this when placing your order.
- Natural products ordered without edge binding or a liner can be more susceptible to fraying. For enhanced durability, consider adding one or both of these upgrades.
- With the edge binding upgrade, there will be a 1" border on each side of the shade.
- Liner upgrades will come with a pre-selected liner color to coordinate to the chosen fabric, the liner is visible from the street.
- When no liner is chosen, woven wood shades may allow visibility through depending on the lighting.
- Due to the natural characteristics of this product, the finished height may vary +/- 1/2" from ordered height.
- Material will always cover a portion of your window, even when fully raised. Please call in for considerations.
Inside Mount Instructions
To ensure an inside mount will work for your window, start by checking that you have enough mounting depth. You can find the exact requirements under the “Specifications” tab on the product page of the item you are considering.
Measuring the width
- With the tape measure, find the exact width (left to right) of the inside edge of the window frame in three places (top, middle, and bottom). Choose the smallest of these measurements.
- If you get a 1/16” or 1/32” increment, round down to the nearest 1/8”. (For example, if the smallest measurement is 24 9/16", round down to 24 1/2". If it's 24 3/8", no need to round down.)
- This will be the width you order.
Measuring the height
- With the steel tape measure, find the height (top to bottom) of the window frame in three places (top left, center, and top right down to the window sill). Choose the largest of these measurements.
- If you get a 1/16” or 1/32” increment, round up to the nearest 1/8”. (For Example, If the largest measurement is 24 9/16", round up to 24 5/8". If it's 24 1/2", no need to round up.)
- This will be the height you order.
Measuring Tips
- Use a steel measuring tape
- If you get a 1/16" or 1/32" increment for width, round down to the nearest 1/8"
- If you get a 1/16" or 1/32" increment for height, round up to the nearest 1/8"
- SelectBlinds applies all necessary deductions; do not adjust width.
