Fit & Factory Deductions
We will make all the necessary deductions based on the measurements you provide. Do not make your own deductions. Don’t add to the width to make up for any deductions that we will take. For more light coverage, choose an outside mount. See the deductions chart for the deductions per collection.
Recommendations
- Pair with shades or blinds to conceal hardware and create a finished appearance.
- Choose an inside mount for a streamlined look or an outside mount for added visual presence.
- For outside mount, recommend extending the cornice 2–6 inches beyond each side of the window for a more balanced, custom appearance.
- Dust regularly with a soft cloth, duster, or vacuum using a brush attachment to help maintain the fabric's appearance.
Good to Know
- Cornice Size on Inside mount will be 1/8'' smaller than the ordered width with no side returns and no brackets included.
- Cornice Height is 4".
- The depth of the Cornice Board minus the front face - or the internal space available to mount other products into the Cornice Board - is 2 1/4".
- Cornice Returns are only available with Outside Mount.
- Cornice Size on Outside mount will be 1 1/8'' larger than the ordered width with 3 1/2'' returns, brackets included.
Inside Mount Instructions
To ensure an inside mount will work for your window, start by checking that you have enough mounting depth. You can find the exact requirements under the “Specifications” tab on the product page of the item you are considering.
Measuring the Width
- Begin by measuring the width of the window. Measure from left to right and measure at the top, middle, and then bottom of the window.
- Write down the narrowest width of the 3 measurements down to the closest 1/8".
- If you are getting a 1/16" or 1/32" increment, round down to the nearest 1/8". (For example, if the narrowest measurement is 24 9/16", round down to 24 1/2". If it's 24 3/8", no need to round down.)
- This is the width you will need to order for your window.
Measuring the Height
Outside Mount Instructions
An outside mount is a great choice for better light coverage, since it fully covers the window and frame. To get the right fit, you’ll need to account for a few extra measurements when placing your order. We’ll custom make your shade to the exact dimensions you provide—no automatic additions are made.
Flat Surface Requirements Start by choosing where you’d like to mount your shade. You’ll need at least 1-2½” of flat mounting space. For more details, check the product page and review the “Specifications” tab.

- For the width, measure the window opening in three places (top, middle, and bottom), and use the widest of the three measurements.
- You’ll use that measurement and add the recommended minimum of 4 inches. This will ensure the window is properly covered.
- Use this width when ordering.

- If you get a 1/16" or 1/32" increment for width, round down to the nearest 1/8"
- If you get a 1/16" or 1/32" increment for height, round up to the nearest 1/8"
