Fit & Factory Deductions
Recommendations
- Measure carefully using your exact opening size. No need to adjust for factory deductions—we handle that for you (deductions may vary ±1/8").
- Mini blinds feature cordless operation for a clean, streamlined look and easy everyday use.
- Headrails, bottom rails, and components are color-coordinated for a cohesive appearance (exact match may vary).
- Durable, lightweight aluminum slats provide smooth operation and long-lasting performance.
No Drill
- MPORTANT MEASURING TIP: If any No-Drill Blinds option is chosen, take all three standard width measurements (top, middle, bottom) to check for variance, but be sure to input the exact measurement of the top of your window frame into the width field. Compare the three measurements, and if the variance between them exceeds 1/4", No-Drill Blinds may not fit properly.
- The No-Drill Blind option is only available for Inside Mount.
- The No-Drill will be on the left side.
- The No-Drill will come with an Allen Wrench to lock the shade in place.
- Requires 1 1/4" of depth to install. This is not recommended for use with PVC or metal window frames.
- Factory will deduct approximately 1/4" off the width of the No-Drill Blinds headrail,
Good to Know
- Deductions may vary +/- 1/8". Do not account for factory deductions when measuring for your blinds. Deduction information detailed in the table below.
- Inside mount blinds are made 3/8" less than ordered width. Deduction is taken automatically at factory to ensure a proper fit. You do not need to take this deduction into account when measuring.
- This product cannot be side mounted.
- Motorized wand controls lift and tilt functionality. The motorized wand comes in standard white.
- Cordless blinds are equipped with a clear tilt wand.
- Aluminum valance is painted to match the rest of the blind.
- 8 gauge lightweight aluminum for smooth and reliable operation.
Motorized Wand
Motorized options are powered by rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, which will be shipped at or below 30% charge for safety. Fully charge your shades before use for optimal performance.
Wand control Micro USB cable plugs into the top of the headrail for easy operation. The backside of wand has a Micro USB charge port for easy access to charge your shade. The shade is functional while in charging mode.
Rechargeable Motorized Wand includes rechargeable motor battery, 10' USB cable charger and charging brick.
Battery charge will last 2 months. Battery can be recharged up to 500 times. It takes approximately 7 hours to recharge the motor when fully depleted.
Wand color available in White only. Wand length is based on height of shade:

Inside Mount Instructions
To ensure an inside mount will work for your window, start by checking that you have enough mounting depth. You can find the exact requirements under the “Specifications” tab on the product page of the item you are considering.
Measuring the width
- Measure the width of the inside edge of the window frame from left to right in three places – the top, middle, and the bottom.
- Write down the smallest of the three widths down to the nearest 1/8”.
- If you have a 1/16” or 1/32” increment when measuring, round down to the nearest 1/8”. (For example, if the smallest measurement is 24 9/16", round down to 24 1/2". If it's 24 3/8", no need to round down.)
- Order the width you wrote down.
Measuring the height
- Measure the height. Start at the top and measure to the bottom of the window frame in three places, starting at the top left, then moving to the center, and to the top right and down to the window sill.
- Use the largest height out of the 3 measurements, rounding up to the nearest 1/8”.
- Round up to the nearest 1/8” if you are getting a 1/16” or 1/32” increment. (For Example, If the largest measurement is 24 9/16", round up to 24 5/8". If it's 24 1/2", no need to round up.)
- This is the height you will use when ordering.
Outside Mount Instructions
An outside mount is a great choice for better light coverage, since it fully covers the window and frame. To get the right fit, you’ll need to account for a few extra measurements when placing your order. We’ll custom make your shade to the exact dimensions you provide—no automatic additions are made.
Flat Surface Requirements
Start by choosing where you’d like to mount your shade. You’ll need at least 1-2½” of flat mounting space. For more details, check the product page and review the “Specifications” tab.
Measuring the width
- Measure the width of the window in three places (top, middle, and bottom).
- Take the largest width out of the three measurements.
- You’ll use that measurement and add the recommended minimum of 4 inches. If the window opening is 72”, for example, it‘s recommended to order 76”, giving you 2” of added coverage on each side of the window. This will give you more light and privacy control, eliminating light gap coverage.
- Adjust the additions as much as you’d like, but an extra 2” on each side is a good place to start.
- This is the width you will input into your order.
Measuring the height
- Measure the height starting at the top left, then the center, and finally the top right down to the window sill.
- You’ll use the largest of the three measurements and add the recommended minimum of 4 inches. For example, if the height of your window is 36” inches, order 40”. This will provide enough of a flat surface to mount the blind on top, all while giving your maximum privacy and light control. Adding 2” on each side is a good rule of thumb, but you can add to that if you want even more coverage.
- That’s the height you’ll use when ordering.
Measuring Tips
- Use a steel measuring tape
- If you get a 1/16" or 1/32" increment for width, round down to the nearest 1/8"
- If you get a 1/16" or 1/32" increment for height, round up to the nearest 1/8"
- SelectBlinds applies all necessary deductions; do not adjust width.
