An outside mount is a great choice for better light coverage, since it fully covers the window and frame. To get the right fit, you’ll need to account for a few extra measurements when placing your order. We’ll custom make your shade to the exact dimensions you provide—no automatic additions are made.

Flat Surface Requirements

Start by choosing where you’d like to mount your shade. You’ll need at least 1-2½” of flat mounting space. For more details, check the product page and review the “Specifications” tab.

• Measure the true width of the window opening in three distinct places (top of the window, middle of the window, and the bottom of the window).
• Record the biggest width out of the three different measurements.
• You’ll use that measurement and add the recommended minimum of 4 inches. This will provide 2” of coverage on each side of the window for light gap coverage and maximum privacy.
• Adjust the additions as much as you’d like, but the above example is a good starting point.
• Use the final number for the width measurement.

• The exact height of your window opening needs to be measured in three particular places: top left, center, and top right down to the bottom of the window sill.
• Note the greatest height out of the 3 height measurements.
• You’ll use the largest of the three measurements and add the recommended minimum of 4 inches. This will provide enough of a flat surface to mount the blinds while providing maximum privacy and light gap coverage.
• Feel free to make the additions as small or as large as you want.
• Use this number as the height.
