How to Measure for Multiple Blinds in One Window

Large windows don't always require one oversized blind. In many cases, installing two or three individual blinds inside the same window opening creates a cleaner appearance, makes operation easier, and allows you to replace a single blind if needed in the future.

This measuring guide explains how to accurately measure for multiple blinds in one window, including mini blinds, faux wood blinds, wood blinds, and cellular shades.

How to Measure for Installing Multiple Blinds in One Window

Note: Factory deductions outlined below apply to inside-mounted window treatments only. For outside-mounted blinds, measure the total width and simply divide it by the number of blinds you plan to install. No additional deductions are needed.

1. Measure the window.
   Follow our measuring guide. Measure the width in three locations and use the smallest measurement. Be sure to confirm that your window has enough depth for your chosen product.

2. For two blinds in one window:
   Divide the finished width by two, then add 1/4" to each blind. The factory will deduct 1/2" from each blind during manufacturing.

   Example:
   Window width = 80"
   80" ÷ 2 = 40"
   40" + 1/4" = 40 1/4" ordered width for each blind

3. For three blinds in one window:
   Divide the finished width by three. Add 1/4" to the left and right blinds only. Do not add width to the center blind.

   Example:
   Window width = 90"
   90" ÷ 3 = 30"
   Left blind = 30 1/4"
   Center blind = 30"
   Right blind = 30 1/4"

For cellular shades, follow the same process, but add 1/8" to each outside shade instead. The factory deducts approximately 1/4" from each shade during production.
