We ordered these fabric shades for our dining room, where we wanted to still have light filtering through yet block views of traffic that pass one side of the room. These shades fit the bill, and then some. They allow plenty of light to filter through, yet provide enough blockage so you have no idea traffic or anything else is on the other side. Getting samples of colors beforehand helped us choose between ivory and linen, which look quite different from day to night. The construction of the shades is very high quality, and the look elegant enough to fit our dining room. Installation was very easy, and the hardware is sturdy. The shades are at the upper limit of being able to use the spring mechanism (they're 77 inches long), but work beautifully. I highly recommend these shades.
I had a blind salesmen come to the house and try to sell me a 9' long roller shade for just short of $1,000. I got to from select blind for less then a third of that. It works perfectly in our living room. The only issue that I have is that the material is a fabric on vinyl and when they cut the edges the raw edges are a bit rough and I don't have a way to hide them. The blind was extremely easy to put up and works like a charm.
In hindsight, I wish we knew that the inside measurement at the top was the most important. Some of the blinds are almost too narrow to fit across. If I hadn't taken the narrowest top to bottom measurement, and just the top, they would have fit better. The blind fabric width would easily fit a quarter inch difference here or there along the sides top to bottom.
These shades are just wonderful. They made my windows look just the way that I wanted them to. I'm planning on ordering more for the windows in my other rooms.
