Sheer Shades

Sheer shades combine the beauty and functionality of both window blinds and window shades. They’re our version of Hunter Douglas’ popular Silhouette Shade. Sheer shades consist of horizontal slats in between two layers of sheer fabric. The slats can be tilted just like traditional blinds, but the sheer fabric stays over the top, giving your space a soft, elegant look. When the slats are open, you still get an unobstructed view. Ready to learn more? Here’s everything you need to know about sheer shades from Select Blinds:

Light Control Fabrics

Light Filtering – Choose light filtering if you want your space to have a soft glow. You’ll still get beautiful natural light, but the sheer fabric will gently diffuse it so you get the best light possible.

Room Darkening – If you want a little more light blockage, choose room darkening sheer shades. If you prefer darkness while you sleep, these are a great solution to consider. They’re also ideal for media rooms, baby nurseries, and home theaters.

Slat Sizes

When it comes to sheer shades, you have three slat size options – 2”, 2 ½”, and 3”. You can’t go wrong with any of these sizes, but here are some recommendations to get you started:
Choose 2” slats for smaller windows. It will help maintain a balanced, cohesive look. If you have windows with narrow sills, 2” slats would help the shades stay close to the window, right where they should be.

2 ½” slats will provide more of an unobstructed view than the 2” slats, and they’re ideal for medium-sized windows. But if you’re looking to make more of a visual impact, you can use this size for small windows, too.

The 3” slats are best for large windows, and they provide the best view outside. If you have a window with a deep sill, these will work great also.

Lift Systems

Continuous Cord Loop – All of our sheer shades come with an easy-to-use continuous cord loop. For ultimate child safety, a cord tensioner will come attached to the cord. All you have to do is screw it into the wall and make sure the cord is taut. And that’s it!

Cordless Motorized Wand – Get rid of external cords altogether with the cordless motorized wand. You can raise, lower, and tilt the slats with a simple touch of a button. Choosing this lift option will give your sheer shades a beautifully modern look.

Remote-Operated Motorization – You can modernize the sheer shades even more by choosing remote-operated motorization. You can tilt, raise, and lower the shades from up to 65 feet away! You can’t get more streamlined and modern than this.
