I did a bunch of research on blinds (online and offline sources). Reviews of SelectBlinds seemed to be generally positive (certainly more positive than the competition), so I went ahead and ordered blinds for all 8 windows that I was considering. I followed their measurement instruction: measured every window three times in each dimension, and after I was done, went back and did it all again to be extra sure.

The measuring is the hardest part. Once you’ve done that and placed the order, I received my blinds in a little over a week. They were packed well and not damaged during shipping (including a 95” valance for a large window that received three sets of blinds). Every blind was cut well and to the correct dimensions.

Install was a snap - I highly recommend using a cordless impact driver with a 1/4” driver in addition to your cordless drill. I spend more time measuring each window before ordering then it took to install the finished product!

I have already suggested SelectBlinds to several friends and family members. Good product at a great price – you likely won’t be disappointed in your purchase.

cj little
santa monica, ca
Measuring Instructions For Faux Wood Blinds
Faux Wood Blinds - Outside Mount
Width:
Measure the exact width (left to right) of the wooden or metal window frame or how wide you would like the blind to be.
Make sure to measure wide enough as to cover the entire window and provide maximum light gap coverage. Example: If the window opening is 36", it might be helpful to order 40". This will provide 2" coverage on each side of the window.
There is no rule on the width of blinds other than to make sure that it is wide enough to cover the opening.
Keep in mind that the valance will be about 2" wider than width ordered.
Write down that size making sure that it is the first number of the measurement. This is the width you will order.
*production department will deduct 1/4 inch of width on each side of blind, total of 1/2 inch on inside mounted blinds to allow for mounting brackets.
Height:
Measure the height you would like the blind to be by measuring top to bottom.
We recommend adding about 3 or 4 inches to this number to insure maximum light gap coverage and to cover the window completely.
Please be sure to know that the height measurement will always include the headrail. Example: if the height ordered is 50" this will be the height including the headrail (from the very top of the headrail to the bottom rail).
You will want to mount the headrail above the window frame. Please make a note that some windows have trim that might interfere with mounting so it's important to measure above the trim if this is the case.
Headrail is 2.25" in height.
*width and length measurements may vary +/- 1/8"
