Board mounted valances are made of beautiful, decorative fabrics that are mounted on a board, and cascade down over the window to varying lengths depending on the valance style that you choose. Board mounted valances offer flexibility in that they can be ordered with either a 4” return or 7” return. The return is the sides that attach to the front of the valance, and determine how far out from the wall that the valance will actually be positioned. So in the case of the 7” return, there is plenty of room for the valance to cover almost any window frame, and any outside mount window blind or window shade. A 4” return will be closer in to the wall, and may not cover every type of outside mount window blind or window shade. Unlike pole mounted valances, board mounted valances are built to your exact width specification, and are ordered to the exact ½”. SelectBlinds currently offers three distinct board mounted valance styles.
- Charisma valances are constructed with 3 pleats which will expand proportionally as the board width increases. The 3 pleats hang in the center section, and have a 22” long drop, and are bordered by 42” long cascades that extend from both sides of the board. For further customization, an upgraded decorative fringe or cord for the bottom edge can be added.
- Elegance valances are made with 3 sections of standard lined fabric. The center section is bordered by a similar length curved section on either side, and comes standard with a ½” self bias tape bottom. This can be upgraded with an optional decorative fringe or cord for the bottom hem only. The 3 swags have an 18” long drop. Due to the construction of the 3 swags, the Elegance board mounted valances require a minimum width of 48”.
- Chantilly valances are constructed with beautiful swags in the center section that are divided by an accent of material called a jabot that drops 12” from the top of the board. These line up perfectly with the start of the swags which drop 18”, while the cascading material at the edge of the valance drop to 36” on either side. Decorative fringe or cord can be added to the bottom edge as an option to enrich the overall look. Chantilly board mounted valances require a minimum width of 36”.
