First off I'd like to say that I love the blinds. That being said I'd advise you to throw the instructions away. If you're an engineer, you might be able to figure it out. Instead call CS for the video on hanging the blind. This video was a huge help, however I followed the measuring instructions exactly and the mounts were hung too low (you'll see what I mean by measuring instructions if you watch the video). Luckily I was mounting into a tongue and groove wall. If I had been mounting into drywall, I would not have been happy. My advice is to hang the blind as best you can, then take new measurements, disassemble the blind, and remount the brackets. I did this twice before I was satisfied, but I've been told I am pretty particular. This blind was an outside mount over a sliding glass door.
In addition, I had three inside mount window blinds. The measurements were exact on my part but the blinds (vertical slide) are an inch short (they are supposed to be 1/2 short). This lets in a lot of daylight for a room darkening blind. Just be aware of this.
As I said I ordered four blinds. I opened one box and there were no instructions. I had to open the next three boxes to find the one instruction manual that was sent. I then set out all the parts from the first box I opened and there were pieces missing. I opened the accessory packages for the other three boxes and had parts all over the place. Some boxes had missing parts and some had extra, so I was forced to play the matching game to come up with four full sets pieces. this was pretty frustrating as I now had all four boxes unpacked and spread out all over my living room. In the end all the pieces were there except for the outside mount blind that covered my sliding glass door. This came with four mounts each with two screw holes and the company only sent four screws instead of 8. This wasn't a big deal for me as I was mounting into tongue and groove so four screws total was sufficient.
As for appearance, the blinds had folded and scuffed material on the tops and bottoms, but it is not readily visible so I'm not too worried about it.
Overall I love the blinds, they are functional, well made, and certainly block out the light (except where they are too short). I give them a rating of 3 stars because the company fell flat on instructions and materials packaging, as well as the short blinds.
