Measuring Instructions for Bamboo/Woven Wood Shades Menu

Bamboo and woven wood shades are a favorite among interior designers, and for good reason. They add great texture to any space and the natural materials make quite the design statement.

Instructions for Inside Mounted Bamboo/Woven Wood Shades

Depth Requirements

  • The first step is to make sure your window is deep enough for an inside mount. Find out more about the product’s minimum mounting surface requirements by clicking on the “Product Info” tab on the product’s informational page.

Measuring the width

Measure the width
  • With the tape measure, find the exact width (left to right) of the inside edge of the window frame in three places (top, middle, and bottom). Choose the smallest of these measurements.
  • If you get a 1/16” or 1/32” increment, round down to the nearest 1/8”. (For example, if the smallest measurement is 24 9/16", round down to 24 1/2". If it's 24 3/8", no need to round down.)
  • This will be the width you order.

Measuring the height

Measure the height
  • With the steel tape measure, find the height (top to bottom) of the window frame in three places (top left, center, and top right down to the window sill). Choose the largest of these measurements.
  • If you get a 1/16” or 1/32” increment, round up to the nearest 1/8”.  (For Example, If the largest measurement is 24 9/16", round up to 24 5/8". If it's 24 1/2", no need to round up.)
  • This will be the height you order.

Our factory will make all necessary deductions. Do not make your own deductions. Do not add to the width to make up for any deductions. If you would like more light coverage, choose an outside mount. See chart below for the deductions per collection:

Instructions for Outside Mounted Bamboo/Woven Wood Shades

Because an outside mount covers the entire window opening and frame, there are additions you will need to make to order the right size. We will custom make your product to the dimensions you give us when ordering, and we will not make any additions for you.

Flat surface requirements

  • First, find the spot you’d like to mount your bamboo shades. Refer to the "Specifications and Installation" section of the product page for minimum space needed for outside mount. You can find out more on the product’s information page and by clicking on the “Product Info” tab.

Measuring the width

Measure the width
  • Measure the window’s width in three spots (top, middle, and bottom).
  • Find the largest measurement and add at least 2” to each side, giving you more light coverage and added privacy.
  • That number is the width.

Measuring the height

Measure the height
  • Measure the window’s exact height in three spots (top left, center, and top right down to the bottom sill).
  • With the largest number, add 2 inches to the top and bottom, for a total of 4 inches. Add more if you want even more coverage.
  • That number is the height.
