Fit & Factory Deductions
Recommendations
- For inside mount, measure your window in three places (top, middle, bottom) and use the top measurement when ordering. Don’t worry about factory adjustments—we handle that for you.
- Inside mounted shades may have slight gaps on the sides or top. For better light coverage, consider an outside mount.
- Some options require additional mounting depth and may not be compatible with all window frames. Be sure your window meets the requirements before ordering.
- For a safer, clutter-free space, choose cordless or motorized options—perfect for homes with children and pets. Motorized shades arrive partially charged and should be recharged before first use.
- Most cellular shades include a neutral white backing and color-coordinated components. Small gaps are normal due to standard factory deductions (±1/8"), along with slight color variations or minor adjustments over time.
No Drill
- MPORTANT MEASURING TIP: If any No-Drill Blinds option is chosen, take all three standard width measurements (top, middle, bottom) to check for variance, but be sure to input the exact measurement of the top of your window frame into the width field. Compare the three measurements, and if the variance between them exceeds 1/4", No-Drill Blinds may not fit properly.
- The No-Drill Blind option is only available for Inside Mount.
- The No-Drill will be on the left side.
- The No-Drill will come with an Allen Wrench to lock the shade in place.
- Requires 1 1/4" of depth to install. This is not recommended for use with PVC or metal window frames.
- Factory will deduct approximately 1/4" off the width of the No-Drill Blinds headrail,
Good to Know
- The back of the product comes white to conform with HOA standards.
- Due to the size of the bracket, there will be a light gap above the headrail of 3/16" when ordered as an inside mount. To avoid light gaps we recommend ordering as an outside mount.
- When ordering an outside mount shade with a continuous cord loop, we recommend installing the cord tension cleat slightly to the side of the shade on the wall instead of a straight line along the shade to avoid the cord from hitting the shade during operation.
- Cordless and Cordless Top Down Bottom Up shades over 59" wide will come with two handles instead of one.
- To ensure optimal shade durability, headrail is made out of lightweight aluminum and bottom rail is made from steel-weighted aluminum.
- Headrail, bottom rail, and end caps are color coordinated to color selection.
- The safety device is required by law and must be applied on chain loops and prevents free-hanging loops in operating chains. Install the safety device at the maximum distance possible from the control mechanism to prevent slack in the loop.
Motorized Wand
- Rechargeable Motorized Wand includes rechargeable motor battery, 6' USB cable charger and charging brick.
- Motorized Wand control Micro USB cable plugs into the top of the headrail for easy operation. The backside of wand has a Micro USB charge port for easy access to charge your shade. The shade is functional while in charging mode.
- Wand color available in White only. Wand length is based on height of shade:
- Battery charge will last 3-6 months. Battery can be recharged up to 500 times. It takes approximately 7 hours to recharge the motor when fully depleted.
- 1 battery charger is sent for every 2 motorized shades on the order.
- Motorized options for this product are not covered under our FIT Guarantee.
- Motorized options are powered by rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, which will be shipped at or below 30% charge for safety. Fully charge your shades before use for optimal performance.

Inside Mount Instructions
To ensure an inside mount will work for your window, start by checking that you have enough mounting depth. You can find the exact requirements under the “Specifications” tab on the product page of the item you are considering.
Measuring the width
- To determine the width, measure from left to right on the top, middle, and the bottom. Use the smallest width out of those numbers.
- If you get a 1/16” or 1/32” increment, round down to the nearest 1/8”. (For example, if the smallest measurement is 24 9/16", round down to 24 1/2". If it's 24 3/8", no need to round down.)
- This is the width you will use when ordering.
Measuring the height
- To determine the height, measure from top to bottom on the top left, then the center of the window, and then the top right to the bottom of the window sill. Use the largest height out of those numbers.
- If you get a 1/16” or 1/32” increment, round up to the nearest 1/8”. (For Example, If the largest measurement is 24 9/16", round up to 24 5/8". If it's 24 1/2", no need to round up.)
- This is the height you will use when ordering.
Outside Mount Instructions
An outside mount is a great choice for better light coverage, since it fully covers the window and frame. To get the right fit, you’ll need to account for a few extra measurements when placing your order. We’ll custom make your shade to the exact dimensions you provide—no automatic additions are made.
Flat Surface Requirements
Start by choosing where you’d like to mount your shade. You’ll need at least 1-2½” of flat mounting space. For more details, check the product page and review the “Specifications” tab.
Measuring the width
- Begin by measuring the exact width of the window opening in three main places (top, middle, and bottom).
- Record the largest width out of the 3 measurements.
- You’ll use that measurement and add the recommended minimum of 4 inches. This will ensure the window is properly covered. For more light coverage and privacy, add even more to the measurement.
- When ordering, use this final number for the width.
Measuring the height
- Measuring the height is easy. Simply measure the height of the window in three places, including the top left, the middle, and the top right, all ending at the bottom of the sill. You’ll use the largest of the three measurements and add the recommended minimum of 4 inches. This will ensure the window is properly covered.
- The final number you come up with will be the height you use when placing your order.
Measuring Tips
- Use a steel measuring tape
- If you get a 1/16" or 1/32" increment for width, round down to the nearest 1/8"
- If you get a 1/16" or 1/32" increment for height, round up to the nearest 1/8"
- SelectBlinds applies all necessary deductions; do not adjust width.
