We recently set out to replace ALL of the window coverings in our house...that's 15 windows! We ordered samples from multiple companies, including Select Blinds (3 different times!). It took us 6 months to find what we wanted! We even ordered a "test shade" for our guest room! The rest of the order contingent upon the product and the ease of installation. If it worked well, we'd do our entire order at one time! And, it did! We love it. The color is great, it completely darkens the room, and we love the top-down-bottom-up feature! And, although my husband is very handy as a DIY'er, the installation was fairly straightforward (I think anyone could manage it). So, with measurements in hand, we sat down to place our order. We had to do it over the phone, because we'd locked in a price reduction (by ordering samples) that was different than the daily special. We had the good fortune of being helped by Kimball Boyd who must've spent 2 hours with us on the phone! He walked us through some difficult measurements of our windowed patio doors, and guided us with some decisions about roller shades vs. cellular shades. Of course, the roller shades we had chosen had been discontinued the very morning of our order, but he was able to help us get what we wanted! He was patient and helpful, and made the entire ordering process so much less painful than it could've been! Order placed...12 cellular shades and 2 roller blinds later...and we expected delivery in ~ 2 weeks. We got them in half that time! We haven't mounted them yet, just too much going on with the new house. (It will be a cold-winter, inside project. But we took each blind/shade out of the box, rolled and unrolled them, used all the pulls and latches, held them up to their intended windows...they're going to be great! Now, I'm only giving Select Blinds 4 stars for 3 reasons; #1: our "test blind" came with a label indicating which window it was intended for, attached to the actual blind. When all 14 came together, the boxes were labeled, the hardware was labeled, but the individual blinds were not! Fortunately we paid very close attention as we unpacked the boxes! #2: We were under the impression that these blinds were "made in the USA." From what we can tell now, the blind material is made in the US, but it is assembled in Mexico, or visa-versa. Regardless, we try to stay "USA Made" as much as possible (which was part of our 6 month research process) and we were disappointed when we saw the labels indicating Mexican involvement. #3. We bought dark brown shades, and the T-D-B-U magnetic bar is WHITE! There is a very obvious strip of WRONG color between the header and the shade. We called and asked about this and were informed that this is the only color the magnetic bar comes in! That's ridiculous! At least have a few different color magnetic bars! All that being said, we've been very pleased with the SelectBlinds company and products and would recommend them to friends and purchase from them again. And special thanks to Kimball Boyd.
