I installed this shade horizontally below a very large kitchen skylight. Installation went very smoothly but I suggest doing your homework about the installation prior to the shade delivery. On installation I did deviate slightly. Instead of pre-marking the location of the supports I just installed the supports to the shade in their correct location and then held the shade in place, using a level marked the top of each support. I then removed the supports from the shade and installed them. Fit perfectly. I did make one mistake, my fault. I installed the cover strip before ensuring the tension etc. for the shade was adjusted. Removing the cover strip was almost impossible without bending (destroying) it. I’m not sure if all cover strips have an aluminum blind strip in it or mine did because of the size I was using. If I had followed the instructions more closely it would not have happened. I found a suitable material to use in place of the provided cover strip. We are very pleased with the blind and would purchase again if the need arises.

Great product

This skylight shade is great and creates a wonderful blackout experience for sleeping. I installed a trim perimeter first so I could install on a flat surface instead of the textured drywall. Installation was pretty straight forward. The only part that was tricky was getting the additional fabric trim back into the bottom sill plate but not a big deal. One of the side rails didn’t have the pilot holes drilled but I was easily able to do that myself. Hoping that these insulated shards will keep the heat out in the summer. Time will tell but for now, great!

Skylight blinds

Everything was cut properly, but rubber bands that are supposed to hold together during installation were not on blinds and trying to work around the issue blinds ripped. Instruction video repeats to not take apart, but never had them from beginning.
