We paid extra for the no drill headrail and what a HUGE mistake. First of all when you select this option, they do not tell you but they subtract the hight of this option from the hight of the blinds you ordered, so you have to use it otherwise your blinds will be short. Here are the issues with the no drill headrail:
1) It only comes in white, which is NOT clear in the ordering process we ordered the darkest grey (Asphalt) blinds to be installed on a dark grey tile wall in our bathroom. So the white mounting rail sticks out like a soar thumb and looks horrible. As mentioned above removing the optional mounting rail now leaves the blinds short, as Select Blinds removed hight off of our measurements to account for this option.
2) The vertical space this mounting options consumes takes away from the window, leaving you will less window to enjoy when your blinds are open.
3) We additionally ordered blackout blinds for 2 of our bedrooms with this option and it creates a gap between the bottom of the no drill headrail and the top of the shades where the light comes pouring through, highlighting the added contraption and poor design.
I am kicking myself for selecting this option at the end of the very thoughtful ordering process. It has ruined the look and functionality of our new blinds in all 3 rooms. We were able to use the fit guarantee on one of the blinds. We of course chose the to replace the ones in the bathroom to eliminate the white strip in the middle of all the dark grey tile and the new blinds. We will just have to live with it in the bedrooms as we can't remove it or the blinds will be too short. I still can't believe they subtracted hight from our measurements to account for this option. If they had not done this, we could have at least mounted the blinds without the no drill headrail but now we are stuck with it or we have to purchase the blinds over again with only a 10% discount.
