Waste of money

I have ordered blinds from this company before and loved them. This particular combo blind however is terrible and doesn't last. Out of 6 blinds I ordered, 1 arrived not working, 4 broke within a year, and only one is semi functional today. The problem is the button than you need to use to get them to go up und down or transition from sheet to blackout. It either sticks or stops working completely. I tried to get them replaced but the process of exchanging was too complicated. Really regret wasting so much money on not functioning blinds.

Disappointed

I’ve owned cellular blinds from BB&B for many years, including tri-shade blackouts, but the mechanism was not durable and they broke. Based on NYT Witecutter, I looked into Select Blinds. I researched their website, measured, and requested samples. The samples they sent did not include the sheer/mesh material. I requested a sample of the sheet material several times. The sales associate said he’d look into it, then ghosted me. When the company send my me “you have items in your cart, anything we can help with” emails, I requested again to have a sample of the sheer material. The reason I cared about the sheer material is that it’s helpful for privacy while allowing light inside. I have simular cellular shards from BB&B and the sheer material looked beautiful. The sheer material from Select Blinds makes the whole thing look cheap. It’s single layer sheer pleating (BB&B had honeycomb sheer material for an elegant loom), so there’s little privacy in the day time, the sheer pleat doesn’t hang well and basically stretches out to have no pleats when you have the sheer fully down. In few positions does the sheer pleating match the size of the black out honeycomb. This is why buying on line is tricky. I did what I could to get a sample but they ignored me. Now I found a picture that shows how cheap the sheet pleet is (it’s under specifications/details). Oh, and the handy man who installed it even said the brackets were cheaper than the ones from BB&B.

Great functionality!

I wanted to replace the blackout shades on our bedroom french doors and had enjoyed this type of shade in another home. The main issue I had was choosing a color! I was able to order these on sale so price was really reasonable, and they arrived quickly. I just installed this morning- it was easy. The shades look great and will now give us the option of filtered light with the sheer option. My only 2 comments are that the lift mechanism is pretty tightly sprung and I wish the metal bracket was color matched to the headrail, but I suppose I can paint it. Very pleased.

Depth is an issue

The blinds are very nice, but the depth chart states the minimum window depth is 1 1/4" for the cordless lift and lock. My available depth is about 1 9/16", but the brackets that ship with the blinds measure from the back of the bracket to the back edge of the front mounting hole is 1.5" so the front screw could not be installed. Selectblinds tells the customer service team to tell the customer to "just use one screw...it's fine". One screw in wood may be fine for a few weeks or months, but this will not hold up over time with raising and lowering the shades multiple times daily.
