Excellent product but installation glitch

The product looks gorgeous, but the installation did not go as well as we had hoped. For the first window installation on our 78 1/2" wide windows that are set in 5 1/2" deep, we did not truly understand how much to recess the 2" premier honeycomb blackout shades(which are 3" in collapsed depth) to, but rather focused on making the header flush with the lateral wall surrounding the windows according to your Inside Mount Depth Requirements chart, so there are now shade pleat edges protruding out beyond the lateral wall surface for the inside mount we chose. It can be corrected by dismounting, redrilling for a deeper bracket position and reinstalling to the better depth to accommodate the true depth of that size pleat product width. When we did the installation for our second wide window, we set the header further into the window opening and it looks better. Thanks.

No more early-morning wake-ups!

Although we already had shades on our bedroom window, the early morning sunlight was waking us up too early! So after looking at SelectBlinds samples, we ordered their Premier Blackout Cellulars (with motorization, remote, and bridge). They arrived in 10 days in good condition, except one of the internal shaft collars was loose due to a cross-threaded setscrew. I couldn't reach support on a Sunday so I MacGyver'd it with a bit of duct tape. Otherwise installation was straightforward including the motorization. The wireless bridge took some fiddling but got that working with Alexa as well. Now even with direct sunlight, only a narrow zigzag light shines onto the window side casing, and the room is dark. We've added a whole hour of sleep in that morning, a big plus for our wellbeing.

Disappointed-never again

I purchased these based on the reviews. I have used big box retailers and other on line company's in past. From the time the order was placed till delivery was 5 weeks, was supposed to be 2 weeks. When I went to cancel I was told I could not. If you try to contact anyone it is impossible, everything is via text or chat. When blinds they look and operate like folded poster board. I spent $203 and was shocked by the quality and the functionality of the blinds, I felt that this were built by a grade school arts and crafts class.

Hello Cheryl, I apologize because you had a negative experience with us due to your Blackout Cellular Shades not arriving in the top quality you expected. Our goal is to provide a positive user experience, so any feedback given is greatly appreciated.
Average Construction and Quality

The blinds are generally acceptable and are neither over the top better or worse than advertised. Also, as a do it yourselfer, they are easy to install. Finally, the measurements were perfect to what I provided. However: I ordered the "FREE" corded lift mechanism to raise and lower the blinds. Older Levolar blinds in my office use this and it has worked fine for 15 years. Select Blinds cords are extremely thin and flimsy. Additionally, to raise and lower the blinds takes multiple "tugs" and pulls for the blinds to lower all the way. Finally, my blinds are 104" long. For reasons I don't understand, the cord is half that size with an additional second cord that is poorly coupled to the first cord. (broke the first day). When the blinds are fully lowered, the bottom of the cord is 7 feet from the floor. At 5"7", I have to stand on chair to grab the cord to raise the blinds. VERY POOR craftsmanship with this corded lift mechanism. I requested to return the blinds and pay for the $36 upgrade for the continuous cord loop but was told NO, would have to repurchase blinds with a 10% discount. While I can fix the cord myself using materials from Michaels or Hobby Lobby, I believe it is short sighted and bad business for Select Blinds not to provider either a more durable corded lift mechanism or do away with the mechanism all together and use the continuous loop as the default "FREE" lift mechanism
