I ordered fabric vertical blinds in an outside mount application for my sliding patio door. I chose the chain tilter cord draw control. I ordered samples of fabric before ordering and the fabric on my blinds matched my sample exactly as to color and texture. I had an issue because the chain and cord had tensioners attached to them so that they had to be secured to the wall for child safety. Because of my outside mount application, I was unable to secure the tensioners to the trim around my door as the cords were too far away from the door trim. No "L" brackets were supplied to mount the tensioners to the wall so I called SelectBlinds and was informed that brackets would be sent to me. In the meantime, the SelectBlinds representative sent me a video on how to install the tensioners to the wall with or without brackets, however, the type of tensioners shown in the video did not even come close to the tensioners installed on my blinds. Obviously, the customer service representative had no idea what is actually being used for tensioners during the manufacturing process of the vertical blinds I ordered. I received the brackets in the mail (at no charge) about a week later, however, they were not the type of brackets that could be used for the tensioners installed on my blinds--again, the customer service representative was uninformed! After several e-mails back and forth with the customer service representative and my own searching on the internet, I located the proper tensioners that would work for an outside mount installation, however, SelectBlinds could not order them for me as they were from a third-party vendor with whom they did not do business. SelectBlinds did give me a credit to cover the cost of the tensioners from the third-party site which I ordered and installed; they worked perfectly! My suggestion is not to order outside mount vertical blinds with a cord draw and chain tilter from SelectBlinds unless you want the hassle of what I had to experience. The tensioners were never mentioned or shown on the website during the ordering process. Had the tensioners been shown, I would have realized they would not work for my outside mount application and I would have ordered elsewhere or ordered the wand tilt/draw mechanism instead of the cord and chain. I would rate the fabric of the blinds of only average quality as they have very thin hair-like threads (can best be described as appearing like cat hair) “fraying” from the edges of the material. This is very noticeable when the blinds are tilted in the open position on a very sunny day. Although I realized that the fabric I ordered was not the most expensive/high quality material, I did not expect this. When installing the blinds, I followed the measuring instructions for the headrail brackets, however, they were too close to the floor once hung and I had to move the brackets approximately 1 inch higher than recommended so that they would clear the floor and hang a the proper height.
