VuThru Light Filtering Insulating Blind combines beauty, comfort, and energy efficiency. These insulating blinds offer the convenient operation of a blind with the soft fabric look and feel of a shade. Innovative fully functional vanes compress to offer a clear view and expand to 1" cells to provide significant insulation for year round energy efficiency. The vanes expand to help block drafts in the winter and are white to the outside to provide a uniform exterior appearance and help reflect the heat in the summer. VuThru Insulating Blinds come standard with a continuous cord loop and clutch system that is used to raise and lower the blinds as well as open and close the vanes. As with all of our products, VuThru Light Filtering Insulating Blinds come with a limited lifetime warranty.

I love the operation of these VuThru Shades. They tilt open and close just like a horizontal blind. When closed, they they are great insulators. Ordering samples before order was placed was of great help.

These light filtering shades were a great choice for my living room. I can close them when the afternoon sun is beaming and still get some light in. The color choice was excellent.

I purchased the blinds for a home addition, which has lots of specially designed windows. I did not want to cover-up the windows, so the honeycomb shades that open like blinds was a perfect solution. We get the privacy when needed and the openness we wanted for the day. Easy to install, but pricey.

Here are some quick tips and notes to remember:
  • Use a steel measuring tape
  • Round down to the nearest 1/8" for width
  • Round up to the nearest 1/8" for height

Measuring Instructions for Cellular Shades

All cellular shades except VuThru and EcoTrack
Width
  • Measure the exact width (left to right) of the inside edge of the window frame in three places (top, middle and bottom).
  • Take the smallest of the three measurements.
  • Write down that size making sure that it is the first number of the measurement. This is the width you will order.
  • *Headrail will be made 1/4" less than width ordered, including endcaps. Fabric will be made 1/2 inch less than width ordered.
Height
  • Measure the exact height (top to bottom) from the top inside edge down to the window sill in three places.
  • Take the largest of the three measurements.
  • Write down that size making sure that it is the second number of the measurement. This is the height you will order.
*width and length measurements may vary +/- 1/8"

VuThru Shades
Width
  • Measure the exact width (left to right) of the inside edge of the window frame in three places (top, middle and bottom).
  • Take the smallest of the three measurements.
  • Write down that size making sure that it is the first number of the measurement. This is the width you will order.
  • Inside mount headrail will be plus 1/4". Inside mount fabric width will be ordered width less 1/2".
Height
  • Measure the exact height (top to bottom) from the top inside edge down to the window sill in three places.
  • Take the largest of the three measurements.
  • Write down that size making sure that it is the second number of the measurement. This is the height you will order.
  • When the vanes are expanded (closed), the bottom rail touches the window sill. When the vanes are compressed (open), the bottom rail may lift off the sill slightly. This is normal.
*width and length measurements may vary +/- 1/8"

How to Measure EcoTrack Products

EcoTrack products are available as inside mount only.

Width
  • Measure the exact width (left to right) of the inside edge of the window frame in 3 places (top, middle, and bottom).
  • Take the smallest of the 3 measurements; this is the width that you will order.
  • Factory will make the following deductions:
       o Headrails: 1" less than width ordered.
       o Fabric: 1 1/8" less than width ordered.
  • Mounting requirements:
       o Minimum inside mount depth: 1 ½".
       o Flush inside mount: 2".
Height
  • Measure the exact height (top to bottom) from the top inside edge down to the window sill in 3 places.
  • Take the largest of the 3 measurements; this is the height that you will order.
  • Factory will make the following deductions:
       o The side tracks will be 1/8" shorter than the height ordered.
*width and length measurements may vary +/- 1/8"


All cellular shades except Vuthru
Width
  • Measure the exact width (left to right) of the wooden or metal window frame or how wide you would like the blind or shade to be.
  • Make sure to measure wide enough as to cover the entire window and provide maximum light gap coverage. Example: If the window opening is 72", it might be helpful to order 76". This will provide 2" coverage on each side of the window.
  • There is no rule on the width of blinds other than to make sure that it is wide enough to cover the opening.
  • Fabric will be made at ordered width and headrail will be ordered width plus ¼"
  • Write down that size making sure that it is the first number of the measurement.
Height
  • Measure the height you would like the blind to be by measuring top to bottom.
  • We recommend adding about 3 or 4 inches to this number to insure maximum light gap coverage and to cover the window completely.
  • Please be sure to know that the height measurement will always include the headrail. Example: if the height ordered is 50" this will be the height including the headrail (from the very top of the headrail to the bottom rail).
  • You will want to mount the headrail above the window frame. Please make a note that some windows have trim that might interfere with mounting so it's important to measure above the trim if this is the case.

VuThru Shades
Width
  • Measure the exact width (left to right) of the wooden or metal window frame or how wide you would like the blind or shade to be.
  • Make sure to measure wide enough as to cover the entire window and provide maximum light gap coverage. Example: If the window opening is 36", it might be helpful to order 40". This will provide 2" coverage on each side of the window.
  • There is no rule on the width of blinds other than to make sure that it is wide enough to cover the opening.
  • Write down that size making sure that it is the first number of the measurement. This is the width you will order.
  • Headrail will measure ordered width plus 3/8".
  • Fabric will measure ordered width.
Height
  • Measure the height you would like the blind to be by measuring top to bottom.
  • We recommend adding about 3 or 4 inches to this number to insure maximum light gap coverage and to cover the window completely.
  • Please be sure to know that the height measurement will always include the headrail. Example: if the height ordered is 80" this will be the height including the headrail (from the very top of the headrail to the bottom rail).
  • You will want to mount the headrail above the window frame. Please make a note that some windows have trim that might interfere with mounting so it's important to measure above the trim if this is the case.
  • Headrail is 2 1/8" in height.
