Did you watch NBC’s new competition show, “American Dream Builders” on Sunday?

Read this if you need a little background on how the show works.

Right out of the gate, the competition heated up. Even designers on the same team were throwing each other under the bus and trying to make each room fit their individual design aesthetic rather than having a unified front.

This week’s challenge was to renovate and redecorate two Tudor-style homes that were on the same street. They were supposed to keep the home’s décor true to the architectural integrity and style of the home, creating a complete, cohesive look and feel.

But the Tudor-style home wasn’t the only common thread between the two houses. Both families in those homes didn’t have enough space for everyone living there. In one home, 3 generations were living under one roof-the grandparents, parents, and the children. In the other home lived a family of seven, all of whom shared one small bathroom. It was time to restore the beauty of their homes and create that much-needed space.

Both homes turned out beautifully, even though both had a few minor issues, like turning a hallway into an awkward nook in one home and creating unusable and unfinished storage space in a cramped bathroom in the other home. But the three designer judges weren’t the only ones to provide their feedback and make the final decision. The neighborhood joined the judges by doing walk-throughs of both houses and marking their official votes, indicating which team did the best work and stayed true to the Tudor architecture and style.

The judges and the community decided the winner, and the losing team had to send someone home. Tarrick, the site manager for the blue team, ended up going home. Ultimately, his unfinished work on the bathroom vanity was the cause.

What did you think of the show? Did you agree with Tarrick going home?

Don’t forget to tune in Sunday to watch the second episode!
