I bought these blinds as my parents also have the same ones and I liked the way they looked and work. Work meaning that they have the top down bottom up option. My living room windows overlook a public park, which is a nice view, but you don't want people to be looking in all the time. The top down feature allows me to still see out and let more direct light in without them viewing my home.
The other reason I like the top down, and the honey comb blinds, is because they do help conserve energy by blocking the cooler air that comes off the window. I do have double pane windows but there is still some energy transfer. If it is chilly outside and I put the top down you don't let the heavier cold air out into the room (at least as fast). If you open from the bottom up you can feel the cold air fall on your feet.
The only negative I have is that there was a mix-up with one set of my blinds (luckly for the spare room and computer room) and I had to wait an extra 2 weeks for those blinds to be remade. I was told they were lost in the mail??
I measured myself and installed them myself. Some words of wisdom: Look closely at the windows you are installing them on when you decide the side the pull string should be on. I have one where the string I will use most often is on the wrong side. I chose to have two blinds on 1 header on an 80+ inch wide window. It looks fine, but I am not too keen on the gap between the two blinds. I didn't think it would be as large as it is. About 3/16 - 1/4 of an inch. Get the samples, and pull them tight in front of the windows you will be covering at different times of the day so you can see the color changes (for the light filtering).
Overall, I am happy with my purchase.
