I love Select Blinds - we have done our whole house in their products, they are high quality and the price can't be beat. My order for @Home Collection Blackout Roller Shades was the first time I've been disappointed with a product from Select Blinds. It is an attractive shade, good quality, easy to install. However, the way the roller fits in the window means that there is at least 1/2 inch gap on either side of the shade, which allows a surprisingly large amount of light in - enough to wake me up. I really feel that these shades should not be named/advertized as "Blackout Shades." Sure the part of the window that's covered is totally dark, but 1/2 inch on either side lets in a lot of light. The order was for a nursery - I was really hoping to be able to keep light out so the baby will sleep/nap easily - but it's still pretty bright in the room whenever it is day time due to those gaps. I think our regular blinds do a better job at reducing light because they cover the whole window area. Just be aware that although these do darken the room they do not totally keep light out. If I had to order again, I'd order the faux wood blinds in a dark color or a different style of shade.
